Description
The anchor flange is a symmetrical welding neck flange that is designed and manufactured and installed on the pipeline. The anchor flange is a device to restrain the movement of the pipe in a piping system.
Anchor flanges are forged fittings installed on pipelines and embedded in reinforced concrete blocks. They are used to restrain or limit main line thermal expansion or contraction and transfer built-up stresses to external structures or larger foundation.
The use of anchor flanges protects equipment and valves from very high stresses that could be generated due to the temperature and pressure of the line.
The design of this type of flange is based on the ASME Section VIII.DIV.1 standard. Anchor flanges are designed and manufactured from 6 to 56 inches in class 150, 300 and 600 according to the pipeline.
