Description
Data collector is used in smart gas meter to display the information of the meters on the Internet platform and two-way communication. Each data collector is placed in a suitable place and at a certain distance from the meters, and a maximum of 64 gas meters can be connected to it. The data collector stores the information related to the reading of each gas meter and its related errors in its local memory and delivers it to the NCC server in certain time intervals.
The data collector consists of 3 main parts:
- The function of an RF module (Radio Frequency module) is to establish radio communication with the meter. This module has a working frequency of 868 MHz and supports AES128 encryption algorithm.
- The function of Microcontroller (MCU) is to store and manage input and output of data.
- GSM/GPRS module, has responsibility to communicate with the Network Control Center (NCC) through the GPRS telecommunication platform. GPRS is suitable to transfer data packets using the 2G in mobile networks, which provides a data rate of 114-56 Kbit/s in different places. Because the GPRS supports IP4 protocol and uses APN SIM cards, can provide two-way communication between the data collector and the control software of the network center by a secure environment
Data collectors have higher energy consumption than the gas meter, so it should be powered by the urban electric grid or by using solar cells. In both methods, a rechargeable battery is used.
The box which is considered for data collectors has IP65 standard, which is resistant and suitable for outdoor installation.
